Angel with Golden Hair (Gabriel)

egg tempera on wood with gold leaf 10x8ins. Written in 2019 as a wedding present for Gabriel and Tom Berner, it is closely based on an anonymous 12th century Russian icon. It dates from before the Mongol invasion and is one of the oldest surviving Russian icons. The original is in the Russian Museum, St Petersburg.
